Boston Officials Defend Scow Purchase as Bargain
Mayor Fitzgerald and Superintendent Gillespie defend Boston scow buys from Daily & Ivans at 31 000 for two second-hand Barney dumpers. They say the vessels deliver full value, cost far less than new builds, and are essential to garbage disposal despite graft rumors at City Hall. Local scow dealers offer cautious support, noting market prices and use.
