Fire damages sailors boarding house on Commercial Street

Last evening a lamp exploded at 190 and 192 Commercial Street starting a blaze in a third floor sailor boarding house owned by Thomas Gibson. Coats burned as flames reached the roof causing about 300 dollars in damage. Three elderly women were rescued by firefighters as smoke filled the hallway.
