Climate of Manitoba As Described In The Philadelphia Press

The writer recalls Manitoba winters with temperatures from 125 degrees inside a tent to 58 below zero outside, noting extreme dryness and still air that mask the cold. Snow lies 6 to 10 feet deep November through April, moccasins replace shoes, water must be melted from snow, and frostbite is common with many amputations and even ears freezing off. The winter’s length, six and a half months of snow and frozen great lakes, weighs most on daily life.
