In Chesleys quarry, Dover reported April 2, John Stevens and Daniel Chesley were removing an unexploded charge when a blast occurred. Stevens suffered a shattered left hand and facial injuries. doctors fear death. Chesley sustained powder burns and internal injuries with a grim prognosis.

White is detached from the San Francisco and named fleet surgeon of the Pacific station aboard the Baltimore. Medical Inspector John Clarke is detached from the Baltimore and ordered to the San Francisco as fleet surgeon of the Pacific station.
A Treasury Department statement shows a net circulation rise of 11,641,145 during March, mainly in silver certificates treasury notes and United States notes, while treasury holdings decreased by 4,984,530 chiefly in United States notes.
