Lightship 44 to be Replaced by Relief Vessel No 24

The Lighthouse Board announces that on or about April 10, 1884 lightship No 44 moored at Five Fathoms Bank NJ will be removed for repairs and relief lightship No 24 will be placed on the station. No 24 is schooner rigged painted red with Relief on both sides and No 24 on the stern and has masthead markers. During this period the fog signal will be a bell and horn instead of a steam whistle. Lightship 44 will return once repairs are finished.
