Senate Bill Seeks Suspension of Specie Payments
In the Senate a bill was introduced to suspend specie payments until February next and a report noted three million dollars in Beale's affair with one million reimbursed from the United States and other sources. The militia bill passed to be engrossed. In the House further measures included penalizing attendance at a game on the Lord's Day by a $10 fine, a $12,000 prison deficiency resolve, redistricting for Congressional elections, and approval of the President's recent message. An order for two sessions per day was laid on the table with a forenoon session today.
