A Tuesday morning blaze in Oakland City gutted James G. Bell hardware on Main Street and quickly spread to Chatta6 Compton barber shop, N. B. Wilson furniture, A spmereyale butcher, and Fesseller grocery, causing about 1a. 69 in losses with insurance estimated between 3000 and 5000 dollars. Officials unsure of origin, with theories ranging from incendiary acts to accidental causes. A list of local subscriptions follows the report.

Captain T J Duwna of Evansville visited Boonville and reports happiness with the new home. C W Bennett of Lavinville Courier-Journal returned home to rest. Clarence has been in poor health for weeks.
Hoosier poet J Whitcomb Riley and humorist Bill Nye to give readings and sketches in Evansville next Thursday evening, with Riley presenting original dialect pieces and Nye delivering soliloquies. Press opinions praise Riley's character delineations and the Chicago Press Club hosts the event. A masquerade at Boonville honors Washington’s Birthday with prizes from Schmitz Fendrich hatters and furriers.

Cars made by Pullman Palace Car Company include toilet rooms and conveniences. At Nye-Thie hamorous entertainment in Indianapolis crowds were turned away.
