Between ten and fifteen autos from Thorn town carried enthusiasts to Jamestown to greet Albert J. Beveridge and party. They joined the group to Advance and Thorntown where Beveridge was to speak at four this afternoon. The Thorntown dram corps traveled with them. Fire destroys two story residence in Mace district
A noon Wednesday blaze leveled the large two story home in Mace’s business center. Owned by James Abbott and occupied by George Hugleheim and family, the fire likely started from a defective flue. A bucket brigades saved nearby homes and a barn. most furnishings for the Huglehim family were lost. the Hipes house, once a hotel, was heavily damaged with only partial insurance coverage.

Sheriff Receives Fine Bred Bull Dog Gift
In Indianapolis yesterday Sheriff B B MeRcherts received a fine bred Hinglish bull dog from Dr Charles Clayton who had earlier spent months in jail here awaiting trial for murder but was acquitted. The dog aged about three years will be kept at the jail until the sheriff moves to his farm, where it will serve as a watchdog and is regarded as a fine gift.

Theft Charged Against Youths At Kirklin
Two boys named John Hass and Carl Bernard about seventeen and nineteen were arrested at Kirklin after siphoning gasoline from Vaughan’s Slabtown store. An escapee named Haas fled. Bernard is being taken to Lebanon by Sheriff McRoberts. Vaughan reported the stolen 50 cents worth of gasoline and the altered license on the near-new Studebaker used.
