Man Robbed For Sixty Dollars In Indianapolis Crime

Joseph H Whitmer a 72 year old farmer from five miles east of Ladoga Indiana was found bruised and bleeding on Belmont Avenue Indianapolis after being lured to a lonely spot and robbed of sixty dollars. He said two strangers with a few drinks led him from Max Patton's saloon to the State Bar and then toward the west side. He also noted a heavy head wound and scalp injury from a blunt instrument. The robbers left a one dollar bill and some coins, and Whitmer did not know the robbers’ identities. Police searched the area but found no witnesses or suspects. The incident mirrors a prior assault on Frank Hecker who was robbed of ninety six dollars and a diamond stud after being lured into a car ride.
