The 1969 70 Texas Hunting guide, 600 000 copies, informs license deputies and regional field offices about deer turkey javelina squirrel and quail seasons. The note to hunters implies broad distribution by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
Investigating officers estimate damage at 210 after a minor traffic collision on Cunningham Street. City Officers Kenneth Rice and Bruce Caylor identified Miss Annette Owens as the driver of a car that hit a trailer parked at 109 Cunningham.
Bonham firemen were dispatched to Bailey where a fire was found in a cotton gin but gin employees extinguished the blaze before the Bonham truck arrived on scene.
Seven of eight U S Special Forces men cleared of murder charges flew home from Bien Hoa to Travis Air Force Base aboard a Seaboard World Airlines jet. The group included Rheault and former commander of the 5th Special Forces Group Sfc Alvin Smith did not Board. The men were released by order of Army Secretary Stanley R Resor after confinement at Long Binh.
President Nixon voiced full support for abolishing the Electoral College and moving to direct elections. He urged Senate approval of a House passed amendment, aiming for ratification in time for the 1972 vote, proposing proportional allocation of electoral votes. He previously warned elimination could face stiff state-by-state controversy.

In Bonn the Free Democrats say they will use their parliamentary balance to remove Chancellor Muesinger and install Willy Brandt as chancellor via a coalition with the Social Democrats. Brandt offers the foreign minister post to FDP leader Walter Scheel as part of coalition negotiations.
