Bonham Independent School District voters face a key ballot on a bond issue to fund a modern high school. The question asks if parents and community want a newer facility to offer additional subjects, with the outcome dependent on a Yes vote to both proposals.
A number of residents in Bonham overslept on Tuesday morning as power failures disrupted electrical alarm clocks and caused varying lengths of outages across parts of the city.

Reports from Saigon say U S and allied forces bombed near the DMZ to block infiltration from the North as Viet Cong and North Vietnamese units clash with South Vietnamese irregulars. Casualties include 7 irregulars killed, 62 wounded, and 4 American advisers wounded. A blond Viet Cong leader nicknamed the Phantom Skulker was sighted in Phuoc Tuy. A grenade attack on Thanh Tri killed six civilians and wounded 27 as villagers collected voter cards amid campaign disruptions. U S forces also report 33 enemy killed in other actions and night strikes along the Cambodian border.
Reports show seven hour crossings at Brownsville amid Operation Intercept searches along the 2500 mile border. Officials note heavy delays despite optimism while Mexican efforts under Operation Extermination target marijuana cultivation and trafficking.
Civilian defense attorney Henry Rothblatt said the Army violated defendants rights and moved to transfer the Green Beret murder case to a U S civilian court. Cleveland Browns list halfback Leroy Kelly defensive back Erich Barnes and guard Gene Hickerson as doubtful for Sundays home opener with Washington. Kelly kept at 50 50 by team physician Dr Vir Ippolito after pulling a muscle in the first quarter of last Sundays game with Philadelphia. Barnes and Hickerson suffered bruises plural injuries.
Police seek a mustached man and a blonde woman after a drive-in bank heist in Dallas that netted $36000. A dark jacketed robber, with two metal boxes, fled in a black and white 1966 Chevrolet Caprice with the female driver. The couple escaped as tellers and a porter watched.
Deputies sought suspects in the theft of a pickup at a city Monday night. A sheriff deputy investigated as a school bus was driven from its parking place near the rodeo arena. The pickup remained unfound Tuesday morning. Police reported the recovery of a car stolen Sunday, found abandoned on Katy Boulevard.
