Archie Fleming, who just concluded a six week summer term as principal at the Fairyiew School, has accepted a similar position in the Savoy school system. Mr. Penning and Tom Gurney of the State Board of Control are noted in the report.

A 1939 Ford pickup carrying Doyle Bolling and May Foster collided with a car driven by J. C. Chappell of Denison on highway 6 one mile north of Whitefield at 1 a.m. Friday. Bolling sustained a broken jaw and multiple teeth lost, Foster suffered severe head contusions. Claborn in the Chappell car had a possible skull fracture and was hospitalized at Wilson N Jones. Ervin lost a left index finger and Chappell’s left ear was torn. Doris Mirrick and Yvonne Ervin were also in the Chappell car. Police report Chappell was southbound and turned left into Miss Claborn’s driveway, the Bolling car striking the right side.
Mattie Belle Farmer of Bonham has secured a position as student assistant in the Government Department of East Texas State Teachers College where she is enrolled as a junior.
The marriage of Miss Melba Liutel daughter of Mrs Ann Caniel of Bonham and Miller H Roberts Jr of Dallas son of Mr and Mrs H H Roberts was announced. The wedding occurred July 12 at the home of the officiating minister Rev Leo Johnston. The couple reside at 2738 Ivandel Dallas. Mrs Roberts will be honored.
Mrs Richard Conely of Houston and Mrs Coulter R Sublett with Barbara visit J R Rainey family in Bonham. Lt Conely plans weekend trip from California then back to Ellington Field. Sublett and Barbara finish maneuvers in Lake Charles and will spend next week in Arlington before returning to El Paso.
Mrs. R. T. Lipscomb will lead a Bible study for the First Baptist Woman's Missionary Society on Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock. All members are urged to attend.
A social shower occurred Monday evening in Dallas hosted by Mrs J D Newnan. Guests attended and enjoyed refreshments as part of the event.
Rev Ernest O Mills returning after 35 years in Japan will address Calvary Baptist Church at 7 30 p m on Wednesday and speak at other county churches during his visit.
Mrs Lara Brakehill and daughter hosted a tea and shower for Mrs Herman Helton at their home from 5 to 9 pm. Guests signed the guest book and gifts were arranged by Annie Nelson. Decorations featured pink fall roses and smylax with about 250 attendees.
Bonham residents attended a Friday evening musical program at the Alexander Hotel starring Jack Little, SMU senior and organist, with Betsy Saunders assisting. Little performed works by Dehussy, Paladino, and Schumann among others, while Saunders offered pieces by McDowell. Mrs White hosted refreshments after the recital.
Juniors from Forest presented a Garland Lodge initiation program at Garland Lodge on a Saturday. The corps performed floor work and a flag drill led by captain Francis Jenkins, with acting officers including Laverne Brackett as president and Marie Walford as vice president. Supervisors were Mrs Fit Wenegar and district manager Mr Addie Hamlin.
