Paris dispatch reports French forces on the Western front were reinforced in men and materiel as German reinforcements arrived. The high command said all sectors were quiet through the night with only local activity in advance posts, and a lull in fighting for almost 36 hours was noted.
London reports that His Majesty's ship Courageous, a 221 sinking aircraft carrier of 22500 tons with 148 navy and 468 air force crew, was lost to enemy submarine action. Destroyers and merchant ships rescued survivors and returned to harbor. next of kin will be informed when names are known. The submarine is believed sunk by destroyers.
Hon Sam Rayburn of Bonham house majority leader spoke at the Constitution Day rally in Fair Park Dallas. He urged changes in the U S neutrality law and backed a special session of Congress opening Sept 21. Rayburns remarks were broadcast on KRLD as thousands heard him in person. He left for Washington Monday for pre session talks with the president and leaders of Congress.
New York Sept 14 Workers recalled to factory, shop, and mine jobs as war orders surge in the United States. Backlogs in steel, shipbuilding, aircraft, textile, and other industries suggest further payroll restorations from furloughs. Observers cite wartime demand and the Polish-German conflict as key drivers, with 1 billion dollar plus unfilled orders in shipbuilding and aircraft and textiles reaching near World War I inflation highs.
Federal loan administrator Jeece Jones announced railroads will spend about 200 million dollars in the next six months for new equipment and repairs to meet any emergency transport demands. Over the last 60 days railroads placed orders totaling 25 million dollars, with about 25 thousand financed by the RFC and the rest from the money market.

Moscow dispatches describe Red Army advances along a 500 mile frontier into Poland from Latvia to Romania. Tarpol Tarnopol Rowno Kolmen cited as captured Ukrainian towns. Soviet note says Poland’s government collapsed and Warsaw ceased to exist.
Washington reports Alfred M Landon and Col Frank Knox, the 1936 GOP nominees, will join President Roosevelt for a pre Congress session on neutrality issues. The meeting includes congressional leaders from both parties as Congress prepares for its next series of sessions. Soviet claims of mass Polish and Ukrainian movements were stated as part of Eastern Europe tensions.
Captain J H Whitsett, last living member of Sul Ross Camp No 164.65A, marked his ninety-fifth birthday with a town procession and congratulations. He honors heritage from the Confederate era, recalls war service, and notes ongoing Reconstruction era community life. Two unidentified military planes also reportedly dropped bombs in Romanian towns Cristiateh and Cotringen near the Polish frontier, killing several residents.
Fair boosters launch a countywide caravan tonight at 6 30 to promote the county fair opening next Tuesday.
