Approval given for a 129900 rural electrification grant to Fannin County Electric Cooperative Inc by the Rural Electrification Administration. Funds will extend lines in Fannin Hunt Collin Lamar and Grayson counties including north of Bonham to serve 489 customers across 145 miles of new and improved rural lines. The third allotment supports additional extensions and upgrades.

Death of University Leader Dr John Futrall in Auto Crash
Dr John Clinton Futrall, 46, president of the University of Arkansas for 25 years, was killed when his car collided with a farm truck near Westfork, Ark, while returning from Little Rock.
