Worst Air Disaster Over Yugoslavia Claims 171 Lives
A British Airways jet and a Yugoslav DC9 collided at 30 000 feet above Vrbovec near Zagreb. 171 passengers and crew died, making it the worst air collision on record. The British flight carried 54 passengers and nine crew from London to Istanbul. the Yugoslav flight from Split to Cologne carried 108 people, many German tourists.

Cloudy Skies Turn Warmer for Bonham This Weekend
The National Weather Service forecasts cloudy skies and warmer temperatures in the Bonham area Saturday as a cool front wanes. Saturday morning should see lows around the low 60s with highs near the mid 80s after a cool start following Thursday’s 56 to 77 degree day. Most of Texas will have clear skies and mild temperatures.

Lake Bonham to Prohibit Hunting and Expand Bird Preserve
The Bonham Water Authority board bans hunting on Lake Bonham this year to aid a proposed game preserve on Timber Creek west of the FM 898 bridge. A 26 by 26 foot water area fence will enclose ducks and geese with access for observers. The plan, with support from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission, involves feeding areas, land planting, and estimated costs of about 1300 dollars for the fence and under 500 dollars for feed.

Three Armed Men Hijack Indian Airlines Plane to Lahore
An Indian Airlines Boeing 737 carrying 84 aboard was hijacked by three gunmen during a New Delhi to Bombay flight and forced to land in Lahore.
