An unidentified aircraft dropped four bombs near Esbjerg Denmark wounding several and killing two people including a woman. The blasts shattered a house as the plane headed southwest away from the coast near the German frontier.
A nation preoccupied with war through newspapers and radios marked a cautious Labor Day weekend. By noon today accidental deaths remained under 200, with highway crashes causing most fatalities. Twenty-three states reported no violent deaths, while Texas recorded four deaths.
Washington September 4 President Roosevelt will submit the neutrality law to its greatest test within 36 hours. White House sources said the law enforcing embargoes on sale and shipment of arms ammunition and implements of war to belligerent nations would be invoked no later than Tuesday night.
