Passing of a Pioneer John L Ballinger Remains Found at Son-in-Law Home

John Logan Ballinger died at his son-in-law C. Bryan's home in San Angelo after a long life of service. Born September 20, 1801 in Lincoln County Kentucky, he moved to Texas in 1860, enlisted in Stephens Brigade, and fought for the South. He married Lizzie A Smith in 1868 and is survived by four children. He had been a Presbyterian elder in Honey Grove and was remembered as a gentle, faithful man.
