Jacksonville exploded past Athens 46 to 0 in a nonconference game. Kirk Stephens Peter Bolton and Charlie Burns each tallied two touchdowns while Tony Trujillo added one for Jacksonville on Friday night at home.
Georgia defeats Clemson 21 to 7 as captain Billy Rutland miscues the Tiger line with a late run around. AD Perl scored on a 0 yard scamper on the opening play, while freshmen Skinworth and Dan Edwards combined for the second Georgia touchdown on a Shipworth pass from the 25 yard line.
The District 5 AA slate closes with two key games. Greenville hosts the Lions versus the Tensis Wildcats in a likely tight title clash, while Bonham visits Denison in a non title showdown. Sherman and Gainesville have completed their seasons.
Summary of last week results showing Denison and Sherman tied 6 6 in fc play with Paris 39 Gainesville 0 and Bonham 0. Totals list 28 23 2 1447 1050 815 with two forfeits due to ineligible player affecting Gainesville and Bonham. Temple defeated Corsicana 43 to 0 on a muddy field in a District 10-AA game. Second and third stringers played for Temple most of the night as K B Mah Jer was sidelined by a hand injury. Lub is expected to play in the championship against Waco next Friday.
Lufkin wins the District 2 championship by routing Henderson 55 to 0 on Friday night. Telis Wo and Shands led the offense with multiple scoring plays as Lufkin Seals the title and improves to three wins in three district games despite a chaotic, error-filled finish.
Allied forces pushed toward the Rhine after liberating Strasbourg, securing the city and bombarding its west wall fortifications. French and American troops advanced toward three Rhine bridges while German forces contested the western edge and held part of Strasbourg.
Waco unseen undefeated Tigers routed Ennis 46 to 0 on a muddy district showdown. Clifford Lindloff and Marvin Prenner each scored twice, with Alvin Beal Jack Scarborough and Boo Soller adding scores including Soller’s 45 yard TD run. Temple Wildcats can clinch district title next week.
Royse City defeated Whitewright 7-0 on a rain slick field to win the District 16 A championship. Vavie Clifford plunged in from the five yard line after a 35 yard drive to seal the win Friday night.
Honey Grove reports J C Kilpatrick son of Mr and Mrs A B Kilpatrick four miles south of town killed in action November 6 in France. He served with the 36th Division of the Army overseas 19 months with Italy and Southern France service. Born January 27 1918 in Honey Grove. Survivors include his parents and three sisters. Memorial service set for 2 pm Sunday at Main Street Prestorian church with Dr J Theos Baker officiating.
Fort Worth November 25 cattle show 300 calves and 150 yearlings sold with gains to 25 higher on beef and yearling categories. Cows up 25, top good fed steers and yearlings around 1450, fat cows 1325, stocker calves 1125 to 1350. Hogs steady at 210 to 360 pounds sold near 145.5, lows around 2380.
General Eisenhower urged a massive boost in ammunition output, calling for rifle and machine gun bullets to more than double and mortar shells to rise substantially. Production chief Krug announced that at least three ammunition plants must reopen and payrolls expand by over 62,200 workers across several states to meet the demand.
Chicago report states the Congress of Industrial Organizers renews its demand for higher wage levels. The CIO denounces the War Labor Board for not requesting a Roosevelt offer to raise wages to match rising living costs and calls for a forum to settle disputes beyond collective bargaining.
