One tract covers 90 acres of nearly level to slightly sloping land in good cultivation, with 61.65 acres usable for cultivation and 50 acres currently cultivated. The other tract includes 6.65 acres of native meadow and 5 acres of pasture near Gober.
Uncle Ashley reflects on past quips about needs and argues for a school lesson on marriage for keeps. He suggests a high school department teaching lifelong commitment, alongside baby care, to revive the principle that marriage is for life and keep the nation steady.
East Texas State Teachers College will be guests at the Lions Club noon meeting at Gem Cafe. The Thursday Club meets with Mrs A K Yates at 3 pm. Bonhi P I A meets in Room 302 at 3 45 pm. Emerson Anderson to speak on Youth and Americanism.
Mrs. Jake Jones hosted a social for members of the Clark Memorial Methodist church Young Peoples Union. A committee decorated the home and Rev Logan led games. Sarah Puckett Lola Satser and Marjerie Kelley assisted, and Mrs Puckett dressed as a fortune teller.
A group gathering featured a treasure hunt guided by Sarah Puckett and a bonfire in the back yard. Attendees included Rev. and Mrs. A H Logan, Nobel Myers, Harold Dooley, Jimmie and Oleta Logan, Jimmie Daughtery, Dorothy Parks, Lyda Annip, Violet Phillips, Betty Ruth Roach, Beulah Mae, Geraldine McMillan, Geneva Puckett, and Beverly Jones.
The Home Demonstration Club in Ector elected officers for the year: Mrs. Bert Finnell president, Mrs. Edwin Miller vice president, Mrs. Collie Hodges secretary-treasurer, and Mrs. B C Parker reporter. A birthday party for three members is set for Nov 21 at Mrs. E G Gilley home. Parker to host a Christmas party.
The Clark Memorial Methodist WSCS met at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon after a song and prayer Mrs. Alvres Jones led a discussion of Youth on the Highways A short business session by Mrs. Fred Brown approved taking orders for pies or cookies over the weekend with proceeds to the treasury Members encouraged to contact any WSCS member for home baked pies.
The Edhube school patrons and teachers organized a Parent-Teachers Association on Friday evening November 8. Officers elected include President Mrs Tom Brothers Vice President Mrs E G Latta Secretary Treasurer Mrs J M Dossey Reporter Mrs J J Cunningham. Committees named for membership and program with further appointments to follow at the November 15 meeting at 2 o'clock. All parents urged to attend.
Judge Cunningham addressed the Armistice Day program of the Business and Professional Women's club at the Gem Cafe. Miss Oleta Yarbrough presided, thanking members for their support during illness, and a committee led by Mrs. Charley Hayton was formed to prepare Thanksgiving boxes.
Mrs. Lucy Lee Gore of Canyon Texas with son Virgil Gore and wife of Washington D C visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. C L Weddle on Benham Rt 3. Others visiting included Mrs Charles Weddle Jr of Ithaca NY and a son in Washington, Mr and Mrs John Reid of Dallas, Mrs W E Paul of Denison, Mr and Mrs Norman Atkins and daughter Norma, and Mr and Mrs Ber Clark and son Bobby of Winnsboro. Earl Gross is resting better at Allen Memorial Hospital after appendicitis. Mrs J L Kirkpatrick of Windom, a hospital patient, has returned home.
The rank of Knight was conferred on Kermit Malone at the regular session of Knights of Pythia Monday night. The lodge voted to meet at 7:30 during winter months instead of 6 o'clock.
