Briscoe Wins Texas Governor Race After Late Returns

Dolph Briscoe, a Texas rancher and Democrat, defeats Henry Grover in a tight governor’s race aided by rural voters. Grover led early but Briscoe's statewide tally reached 1,204,015 to 1,028,482 as Ramsey Muniz's 161,279 votes narrowed Grover's path to victory. Grover conceded amid late results as Nixon carried national momentum and party leadership faced shifts in Congress and Cabinet posts.
