Robert McWhirter, new lay leader, outlines district lay participation in the All Texas Methodist Stewardship movement for this quadrennium. The Rev Paul Cardwell will deliver the main address. The Fidelis Sunday School class of the Baptist Church met Tuesday night at Mrs. Roxie Newell's home for a business meeting. Mrs. H. D. Ray led a devotional on Thanks moving. Officers elected: Assistant Teacher Mrs. Dorothea Redman, second vice-president Miss Hazel Lambert, class minister's vice-president Mrs. Samantha Locke, membership Mrs. Roxie Newell, fellowship and publicity Mrs. Clyde Jennings, stewardship Miss Edna Carver. Yearbooks completed. Christmas party planned for December 9 with Miss Lambert. Prayers by Mrs. Ernest Hill. refreshments for 12 attendees.
Rev Janus M Simpson Jr spoke at the Honey Grove High School PTA men’s night on the home influence on children’s present and future. Alton Swain chaired. budget allocations to library, band, lunch room, and December football banquet were approved. School board members attended and the Poe A served coffee and cold drinks assisted by Miss Betty McKee.
Mr and Mrs TSbrarehild of 510 Cherry Street Bonham announce the engagement of their daughter Joyce to Karl Koontz son of Mr and Mrs J M Koontz of Nunnelie community The wedding is planned for the latter part of December at 510 Cherry Street Bonham High School student Joyce and Koontz employed at Tom Bean partner firm.
Mr and Mrs Grover Haj announce the engagement of their daughter Joanne to Marshall H Joyce son of Mr and Mrs Ernest Joyce of Honey Grove. The wedding date has not been set.
The MPYF Group of Dodd City met Sunday night November 2 at 6 30 p m with eight members present. A program titled Whence Come Wars was presented and Anita Good plight was named as program leader for November 9.
Rev Max Martin of Ictor will assist Rev Ralph S. Kerr in a revival at the Hail Methodist Church from November 10 to 16. Martin preached the Hail revival last year. Everyone is invited to attend.
The Halloween carnival in Telephone sponsored by the PTA and school was a financial and social success. Highlights included a Negro minstrel by 7th and 8th graders directed by Mr. Baker, a haunted house, a fish pond, a forty-two domino concession, and various games and candy stands run by teachers and volunteers. Officials report ample food, drinks, and prizes, with plans for a bigger event next year.
