Uncle Ashley urges national unity after the election uniting leaders of both parties for a single purpose. He calls for broad sacrifices by all citizens to defend democracy and defeat enemies at home and abroad. He warns that a just government has no favorites and stresses shared burden.
The Ravenna Halloween play was a success and yielded a nice sum for the Parent Teachers Association. Local residents including Miss Geneva Hodges and Mrs. Hubert Simpson served as coaches while many relatives and friends visited, shared news, and welcomed Rev. J H Kirby back for another year at the Methodist church.
Mrs Cletha George and children of Demitt Texas visited brother Jack Hance and family. Mrs Alice Young and children of Dallas stayed with W S Johns and family. Mrs Sam Jones at Tulsa with her mother Mrs Tennie Hamlet who broke her hip after a fall. Charlie Bowen and family and Remice Browning of Dodd City visited A M Browning and Miss Pearl Browning. Mrs Harsh Rich of Corsicana spent weekend with sister Mrs Ebb Massey recovering from surgery in Sherman. Raymond Allen and family moved to Ector as Frank Anderson moved from there. Tom Watson and Miss Ruth Mankins wed by Rev RL Cates. groom is Mon Dohyne’s son, bride is Mankins daughter. both will live here. Mr J S Ferris had a heart attack Tuesday night, resting better Sunday. Clyde Jones took over the Sinclad filling station. Roy Lawrence Hance joined the National Guard after illness. Community had a good rain Monday and Wednesday. Allan Madison is no better. condition serious. Game birds cannot be legally killed in Texas with a gun larger than ten gauge.
Mrs. Charlie Whitlock improves after two weeks at Long Sneed Hospital. Dick McCollum suffered severe leg injuries when a new driver backed into him at a gas pump. he remains at Wilson N Jones Hospital in Sherman. A football injury ends with Billy Fleming’s arm hurt in Anna versus Bells. Various visits, travel to Arkansas, family gatherings, and farm sales near Savoy noted amid local farming activity and gatherings.
A Londale Texas family visiting former acquaintances spent last Thursday in town. They lived here fifteen years ago and, after several months near Leonarda, are now picking cotton in the region.
Bonham area Elwood sits 22 miles northeast of the town in a good farming district. A 3 teacher school on the Telephone route reports Dessie Mae Dodson as the reporter.
Willam Turner and Galughter Gladys visit his brother Al vin Turner of Carson. Mr and Mrs Arville Sanford newlyweds visit relatives in Oklahoma City. Harry Williams and daughter move to the community from Telephone. Bill Marshall and Donald of Seymour Texas visit Mrs Marshell's mother Mrs J J Jackson. W O Jackson and C T McRae families spend Sunday. Elmer Richardson and daughter visit Riverbv relatives. Juanita Rue from Sherman visits her parents A F Rue and wife. Ella Kerner from West Texas visits the Kershners. Tenise McRae spends Thursday night with friends in Bot ham. V A Dodson and baby daughter visit Tulip relatives.

Six Fannin county men enlisted in the U S Army this week at the Sherman recruiting office. Four were assigned to the air service at Barksdale Field Shreveport La Jor J Fenles Bonham Kenneth C Hall Bonham William H Palfard Bonham Weldon W Robinson Trent. Lea T Furrh and Carlos T Calhoun both of Ivar Hoe were assigned to the infantry at Fort Sam Houston San Antonio Texas.
