Men's Night at First Baptist Revival Under Way

The Stewardship Revival at First Baptist Church continues with Dr. B C Land from Jackson, Mississippi leading an intensive study on Bible Doctrine of Stewardship and church finance. Aimed at a 615 Sunday School attendance and a $1,888.88 tithes offer goal, with further aim toward $2,000 and $1,200 toward parking-lot debt.

Nunnelee 4-H Club Holds November Meeting

The Nunnelee 4-H Club met Monday night November 3 at the Nunnelee Community Center with President Kenneth Sartin presiding. After the business session, members enjoyed hot chocolate cookies and an hour of recreation. Windom Girl Elected Secretary of State Home Economics Club

Miss Ruth Howell, a sophomore home economics major at East Texas State College, has been elected treasurer of the State Home Economics College Club. The Windom resident, daughter of Mr and Mrs Ralph T Howell, was chosen at the state meeting in San Marcos with adviser Miss Orpa Dennis.

Mrs Moore Speaks To Current Literature Club

The Current Literature Club heard Mrs L G Moore read original poems at Mrs C G Long home on Tuesday afternoon. Miss Allie Lipscomb introduced her and led readings of favorite poems as copies were exchanged.

Farm Bureau Meets at Windom in Fannin County

The Fannin County Farm Bureau met in Windom on Thursday October 30. J T Woodson county president called the meeting to order and Carl Wright gave the welcome address. Several resolutions were passed and Choice Moore spoke on The Importance of the Farm Bureau. Next regular meeting set for November 10 with cordial invitation to all members.

Hearty Oatmeal Waffles from Simple Batter

Sift together Nour baking powder and salt into a bowl. Add eggs milk and melted butter. Beat until batter is smooth. Fold in rolled oats. Bake on a hot waffle iron. Serve with butter and syrup creamed chicken or fish.

Mrs. Ray Peeler and Mrs. J Balch Moor presented the Bourham Public Library in Bonham with the first copy of Life on the Texas Range in memory of Erwin E. Smith. The book features 80 of Smiths 2000 old time photographs of the West with text by J Evetts Haley.

Doyle Cain Honored With Party Before Induction

Doyle Cain was feted at his parents home before departing for Dallas Tuesday morning November 4 to be inducted into the armed forces. Relatives and friends, including J A Ivey, Mrs Howard Grodd, Hoyt Ivey, W Se Cain, Dwight Cain, and the honoree, shared cake and coffee. Nearby guests and family were also noted, with visits from Larry Head, R A Hall family, Neauthia Hall of Dallas, Jack Hall, Ned Hall of Plano, and Bobbie Carroll at Sherman. Mrs Glen Hemphill was called to aid her mother Mrs W C Bailey of Leonard during surgery.

Bonham Girl Sings With Austin College Choir On Tour

Sherman paper reports Esther Long of Bonham is among the 50 members of the Austin College A Capella Choir. The group will depart November 15 for a fall concert tour through eleven Texas and Oklahoma cities, known for operatic and sacred works with past appearances spanning from New Mexico to New York City.

Boyd Baptist Homecoming Planned for Sunday November 3

Boyd Baptist Church on Highway 78, four miles north of Bonham, announces a full day homecoming Sunday November 3. Roy Jerrell says Sunday School starts at 10 a.m. with Paul Hunt delivering the 11 a.m. message. Lunch follows at noon and J. S. Gregory, former Bonham pastor and district missionary, will speak at 2 p.m.
