A false alarm report about a Sunset district blaze near a 7 11 led Bonham firemen to contact Sherman dispatch after a caller claimed the fire was there. The caller later confirmed Sherman as the town. The mix up left responders unsure how the call reached Bonham.
North Vietnam warned any U S effort to alter the peace text would end the cease fire. Thieu objected to seven provisions, demanding North Vietnamese troops withdraw. Kissinger and U S officials pressed Hanoi amid renewed Communist pressure and delayed signing in Paris.
The Bonham area will see clearing skies and warmer temperatures after a system delivers over five inches of rain since Saturday. Lake Bonham rose two and a half feet with ongoing showers. officials say a three foot gain is possible if rain continues. The lake stood at 563 feet Wednesday morning, two feet below normal.

A U S Chinook helicopter crash in the Mekong Delta adds to mounting American losses with nine confirmed dead and possible higher total.
President Nixon defended his record on crime fighting pollution housing and urban transport during a paid national radio address. He cited plans to keep federal spending near 250 billion this year and outlined campaign travel to boost reelection and Senate gains.
The Golan Heights are sealed off by Israel after a military source cited a possible new round of clashes with Syria. In the Gaza Strip an Arab killed and three Israelis wounded in clashes with Palestinian militants. Cairo said West Germany freed three Arab prisoners linked to the Munich hijacking, prompting Israeli recall of its Bonn envoy. Syrian shelling and Israeli strikes marked the day as tensions rose in the region. Jordanian King Hussein urged Arab coordination to confront the Israeli challenge.
County Clerk announces Friday as last day to vote absentee in the November general election. Voters may cast in person at the clerk’s office until 5 p.m. Mail received with Friday postmark before Election Day is valid. Deputy clerk notes hundreds already voted or mailed out, with ballots still arriving.
