Bonham voters will decide June 16 whether to accept the Hassell home on West 5th Street as a public library site. The measure asks if the city should take over and operate the building as a library with renovations estimated at about 10 000 dollars and annual operating costs around 4800 dollars. The commission rejected using the Bonham State Bank building as city hall due to parking and facility concerns and approved a housing plat between Elm and Pine Streets.
The Senate Foreign Relations Committee overrode its chairman to approve Ogden R. Reid as ambassador to Israel by a 4 to 1 vote. The panel also backed John M. Cabot as ambassador to Brazil after a brief 12 minute hearing. In Florida, Edward Big Ed Walsh, famed spitball pitcher for the Chicago White Sox in 1908, died of cancer at 78.

Speaker Waggener Carr urged Meuse members to push the special session tax program to the Senate by the weekend. He announced he would not move for immediate action today, delaying until Wednesday.
Dor man Loman, a telephone company worker in Lexington North Carolina, was rushed to a hospital after the line he held contacted a 22 000 volt cable. He suffered serious burns over his body.
A tornado wrecked Heald in the eastern Panhandle destroying two farms a general store a service station and a Methodist church but all residents survived. Severe hail battered Claude and a service station roof while Shamrock and other towns reported heavy rain and seasonable temp swings across the state.
Weather bulletin shows more precipitation for the Bonham area through Wednesday with scattered afternoon and evening thundershowers. Temperatures stay steady with highs near 80 and lows around 64, mainly affecting eastern and southern portions tonight into Wednesday.

A union spokesman says fired workers will be reinstated by month end. Demetrio Vallejo, ex-union leader, awaits trial on social dissolution charges.
Police from Paraguay and Bolivia hunt for Maria Becker a 45 day old girl abducted from the Bolivian ambassador Luis Arduz Waza residence in Asuncion. Investigators round up Bolivian refugees and embassy staff amid fears of an inside job. Radio appeals help locate the missing infant as border watches are set. If the hostage is at large authorities seek the child’s safe return and probe possible political links.
The American Society of Newspaper Editors urged the House and Senate to publish payrolls and office expenditures. Petitions filed with both houses argue citizens deserve to know how public funds are spent. The move follows disclosures of congressional nepotism reported by Scripps-Howard writer Vance H. Trimble.

Four hostages escaped from a Dallas house after Charles Windsor, a 42 year old bricklayer, trapped inside with a rifle and tear gas. Police forced entry with a flying wedge as Windsor, armed and gas masked, died in the confrontation after vowing to kill former Gov. W. Lee O'Daniel and Sheriff Bill Decker. Hostages described him as cowardly and crazy.
East and West unite to pay respects to John Foster Dulles, funeral to be held at National Cathedral with United States leaders, Soviet and non Communist officials among mourners. Dulles died at 71 of cancer, burial with military honors at Arlington. ceremony led by Presbyterian clergy.
GALVESTON UPI A four year old service station operator William Cochrane faced corporation court on charges of interfering with police by warning motorists of a radar trap. Police said a sign in front of his station warned that a speed trap was ahead and that officers saw no speeders in 45 minutes of patrol. Cochrane said he was helping enforce the law and plans to fight the charges with a lawyer.
A 12 day carpenters strike at Cape Canaveral massie test center ended as Federal Mediator John Kenney announced a two year contract raising pay by 40 cents an hour. More than 1 000 other union workers at the Air Force base were set to return to work, with picket lines to be removed. The stoppage halted about 15 million dollars in construction and halted maintenance work but not essential wiring or socket usage.
Jack Davis aged 29, currently director of finance for Grand Prairie, is named Gainesville city manager effective June. Former Texas Tech football player succeeds Homer Bly who resigned to become Denton city manager. Annual salary set at 99,008 dollars.
