About 20 Bonham high school students join the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Corps learning aviation basics and military discipline. Cadets observe flights with senior pilots, study aircraft care, communications, and search and rescue roles while pursuing potential in Air Force service. Surprise Conversation Between Stanley Stevens and Daughter in Japan

Stanley Stevens of Bonham spoke by shortwave and telephone with his daughter Mrs Chark Matthews in Camp Hakata Japan. The call connected through ham operators and included Baker family members in Bonham and Lubbock. Stevens learned his daughter cannot return home until August 1956 and described the call as a vivid, mixed up experience.

Armory Site Fund Receives Boost For Land Purchase

The fund to buy land for a new modern brick armory gains $35 with donations from Mrs Edwardine Couch and Jo B Saunders among others. About $1,000 to $1,200 more is needed to complete the land purchase and armory construction, replacing the Quonset hut used since World War II. The old facility will become a warehouse, with bids ready once land is secured. Citizens may donate at the Chamber of Commerce office.

New Radio Link For Peace Officers In North Texas

Fanin county and Bonhur officers will gain direct radio communication with peace officers over a wide area of North and East Texas. A base station will operate on frequency 3718 MC with a regular channel and a separate auxiliary channel for intercounty contact at a cost of 726 dollars. Man Wanted On Worthless Check Charge Arrested

Trinman Chambers, 21, was arrested by Panin county and Bonham officers Saturday morning as he fled from a farm house toward woods. He faced warrants in Fannin and Dallas counties. Officers fired four warning buckshot shots. none struck him. Chambers surrendered after being ordered to stop. County Attorney Libby Weight said warrants included worthless checks, with charges in Fannin and Dallas counties. He had driven a car purchased in Dallas May 3 with Oklahoma plates, used about 4000 miles.
