Paris Officer Kills Negro With Hammer in Store
Paris Texas January 10 Ennis Bostic a Paris Negro was shot to death early Thursday by City Patrolman H R Marks after Bostic allegedly charged him with an upraised hammer in the Singer Sewing Machine Company office. Officers Marks and Newt Baker entered the store after the manager found Bostic there. The office safe had been tampered with. The Negro charged at Marks when he was called to surrender. Marks was indicted for murder by the Lamar County grand jury Thursday.

Students from the Bonhi Glee Club performed two selections and Miss Kincaid's Latin class discussed January calendar formation using a Roman calendar on display. A nominating committee for next year’s officers was appointed: Mrs Earl McAurlchairman, Mrs Fenner Lesne, and Mrs D N Maples. The president noted the north driveway was nearly completed. Committee reports showed excellent work. The group set the next meeting for February's second Thursday.
