ENDS y beb cantrell Mrs J A Young Edhube cor respondent for The Bonham Daily Favorite was one of 294 persons who solved the hidden rules contest in Folks magazine. Six other Texas women also solved it. No prize is given for a correct solution but it requires thinking to figure it out.
The House Criminal Jurisprudence Committee voted 6 to 2 to favorably report a Senate passed bill outlawing nudist camps. Atty. Gen. Will Wilson called the measure constitutional. If approved, organizers or participants face up to 860 dollars fine and up to a year in jail.
The Texas Legislature voted to override Gov. Price Daniel’s objections to a bill accelerating the state’s primary schedule and sent the measure to the governor for a second time.
US President Eisenhower asked Congress to approve US participation in the Inter American Development Bank. The United States would subscribe 180 million dollars to speed economic development in Latin American nations.
A Navy Neptune patrol bomber crashed after takeoff from Whidbey Island NAS near Oak Harbor Washington. Nine of the ten crew members were killed in the resulting fire.
Partly cloudy through Tuesday with no significant temperature change expected. The region should see light winds and minimal precipitation chances. Highs and lows remain near their seasonal averages.
A storm believed to be a tornado hit Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan campus at 10:15 am. A woman was electrocuted by fallen high tension wires, several fires broke out, and injuries were reported as homes and the stadium area suffered damage.

Unemployment fell by 735000 in April to 3627000, the lowest since December 1957, while employment rose to a record 65,012,000 as construction and manufacturing hiring surged. Factory earnings averaged 89.87 a week, with 450000 of the decline in jobless among married men with families.
A youth with dirty blond hair robbed Oak Cliff Bank and Trust teller Dorothy Musick of 4281 dollars at 1130 hours. He presented a note and a small bottle of liquid, then fled on foot but was cornered four blocks away by patrol units minutes later.
Milton Simpson valedictorian and Jesse Wayne Hill salutatorian lead the Ector high school all boy graduating class of 1959. Both were four year basketball players and all district honorees with FFA involvement and church youth work. Simpson plans college after graduation. Hill serves as senior class vice president and FFA leader.
In a University of California survey, 241 children with leukemia showed higher exposure to medical x rays than peers who did not develop leukemia. The study notes a possible association between x-ray exposure and childhood leukemia.
Pickets at Harriet Henderson cotton mills remained peaceful as non union workers passed gates guarded by local police. Observers had feared violence after state troopers withdrew but police described the scene as quiet with usual jeering from workers.
Four Honey Grove teenagers were hospitalized in Bonham with injuries after a car overturned about two miles south of Honey Grove on Saturday night. In the vehicle were Carl Neely and his sister Sandra Neely, Patsy Clark, and Tommy Hawley. Investigators suggested a locked brake or steering gear trouble as a possible cause. Carl Neely sustained head injuries, others had minor injuries or bruises, none believed serious.
Rainfall across Fannin County Sunday into Monday ranged from about 1 to 2 inches, easing drought conditions for cotton, corn, and seeds. Bonham recorded 1.6 inches, Honey Grove about 2 inches, Sherman 1.09 inches, with Ector near 1 inch. The front brought gusty winds and thunder but no major damage, and additional showers were forecast through Tuesday.

NORWOOD New Jersey white wife Louise Brown and their three children vanished after threatening calls. Jean A Brown a Merchant Marine engineer offered a 1000 dollar reward for information. Police found no trace of Louise or the children after April 25. Brown cites hostile calls linked to their mixed marriage.
Wichita Falls report identifies one of two motel robbers as Jack Jean Bovee 25 Artesia New Mexico. The other suspected robber Freddie Gene Smith 23 Dallas implicated the dead man after his identification by a temporary New Mexico permit and relatives.
Severe weather across southeast Texas and the upper coast Sunday left at least two dead and six injured. The outbreak brought tornadoes hail and heavy rain with Beaumont Port Arthur Houston and Dallas area totals from 1 to 3 inches. Forecasters expected calmer weather as the trough moved east.
State Highway 4 near Chambers Creek east of Italy closed by high water. Traffic detoured via Waxahachie on U.S. 77 and U.S. 287. Farm Road 8 between Streetman and Kirvin also closed for high water in the Bryan District.
Severe weather swept across West and South Plains causing two tornado deaths in Sulphur Springs while twisters north of George West damaged farms and infrastructure. In Austin an industrial complex suffered heavy losses. hail and rain caused widespread property damage including in Alice where roofs and windows were harmed.
