Two people, Mr and Mrs Claude Crawford, were injured in a minor collision on U S 82 near the Bonham Drive-In theater entrance. They were taken to Sherman hospital with non serious injuries. The other driver was Henry Allen Underwood who was eastbound on U S 82 at the time.
WACO May 6 The head of the Texas Farm Bureau Walter Hammond argues the proposed two cent gasoline tax is unfair to motorists. He says the $7 million right of way fund promised to cities and counties is only one ninth of expected revenue, while the tax would raise at least $64 million. He suggests a natural gas tax could yield a fairer assessment, noting two thirds of Texas natural gas presently leaves the state with only a token tax.
Queen Elizabeth II dissolved parliament signaling the start of the campaign for the May 26 general election. The dissolution triggers door to door canvassing and other campaign activities, with negotiations with the Soviet Union hoped for.
