The Bondi Quintet will perform two concerts including a 7 30 pm Saturday makeup show after Tuesday’s cancellation. Cast of Still Stands the Tree from Bondi won state, ETSU regional trip April 8 and director Etheleen Williams praises the group.
Bonham Chamber of Commerce will host a Thursday banquet at 7 30 p m in the Bondi cafeteria. Fort Worth humorist John D Jack Jackson will headline with entertainment by Kerrville’s BC Sauer. Sauer will perform skits songs and musical numbers while Jackson delivers a mix of philosophy and humor. Gene Danner, immediate past president, will introduce the speakers.
Bonhi’s Still Stands the House wins first in the district contest at Grand Prairie. Cast members Jana Barnett Mark Houston Janna Houston and Mike Davis receive district honors. regional bid earned for Fast Texas State University in April. Ethelleen Williams notes strong judge praise and lists district entrants from seven schools. About 400 banquet tickets will be sold with Chamber events and a Kentucky rifle raffle to fund Fort Inglish restoration.
Fannin county commissioners will meet Thursday at 10 am to review updated jail renovation plans by architect Fred Buford. The project concentrates on the second floor with new cell arrangements, plumbing, and electrical work. Plans have federal and state approval and aim to add more single cells and separate juvenile and adult areas.
Peter Busch 20 son of August A. Busch Jr indicted for manslaughter in fatal shooting of David W. Seeker 22 at the Busch family estate. He was to surrender to police to answer the charge after the grand jury returned the indictment Tuesday.
Seven warships of the US 6th Fleet, carrying blankets to baby bottles, are within 24 hours of Lebanon to evacuate about 1,450 Americans if ordered. The task force includes USS Guadalcanal with 500 Marines, destroyers Wood and Mahan, and four support vessels Raleigh Charleston Barnstable County Spiegel Grove ready in a holding pattern.
Defense Secretary Rumsfeld said about 1,450 Americans remain in Lebanon with no immediate evacuation plans though seven U.S. ships and 500 Marines standby in the eastern Mediterranean. Kissinger sends retired Ambassador Dean Brown to Beirut to push for a ceasefire amid 11 months of fighting and heavy casualties.
The National Weather Service predicts a warm spell for Bonham after a 33 degree frost event Wednesday. Clouds lingered overnight with some frost and ice in low spots. The forecast calls for morning temperatures in the low 40s and afternoon highs near the upper 70s.

They urged job creation revenue sharing welfare improvements social security while pledging strong defense and full time service.
