Long lines at the courthouse Monday as residents rush to meet the April 1 license tag deadline. Events include a Friday domino tournament in Bonham with tickets sold and entry closing at 6 p m. Wednesday, and a Scout camporee planned for April 17-18 at Boyd community Scout Camp.
Bobbie Irene Standlee, six, died when a two story farm home east of Lannius burned early Sunday morning March 29, 1959. The fire trapped her on the second floor. rescuers arrived too late. She was born March 7 1953 in Santa Clara California and lived in Fannin County. Survivors are her parents Herbert and (Mrs) Standlee two brothers Larry and Wayne and three sisters Debrit Anne Freida and Wanda Standlee. The home owned by Lawton Tadlock burned with all belongings. Bonham fire department arrived after the fire was out. The tragedy marks the county's second fire death this year.
An oil portrait of the late Miss Lucinda Rayburn sister of Speaker Sam Rayburn will be presented to the Sam Rayburn Library Tuesday at 2 30 p m by friends from Greenville and Hunt county Pauline Marcoux and her mother Mrs Paul Stephenson of Sheridan Ark painted the portrait from a photograph taken about 20 years ago Oliver Coon will deliver the presentation and the invocation will be by Rev F G Taylor of Greenville The portrait will hang over a marble fireplace in the trophy room The fireplace was part of the White House for more than a century
