Seven years ago March 27 marks a forgotten anniversary for most Bonham residents but not for Mrs. Alfred L. Winkle. Her son Frederick Stone then served in the US Air Force and witnessed Anchorage Alaska suffer a devastating 8.5 quake. He described buildings collapsing and fires, the city 95 percent destroyed, and a death toll above 100 with Coast Guard and Civil Defense aid mobilized.

Thieves broke the front plate glass at Brannon Music Store on North Main Street and carried off an 8 track recorder and stereo valued at 395 dollars. Officers arrived minutes after the 11 02 p m alarm but found no suspects or traces. A second vandalism report cited a damaged pay telephone booth at the AOK Motel and a separate burglary of an electric typewriter valued at 200 dollars from a home.
