The Consumer Sew Fair on March 30 at the National Guard Armory in Bonham offers homemakers a front row view of the clothing industry. Sponsored by the Texas Agricultural Extension Service and Fannin County Family Living Committee, the free event runs 10 am to 2:30 pm with programs on buying ready made clothing, sewing machine care, fashion fabrics, patterns, and a Butterick Fashion Review.

Registration Will Open Saturdays In Fannin County

The Fannin County Tax Assessor-Collector Robert Dale said the office will be open 8 am to 12 noon on March 20 and March 27 to let residents register motor vehicles. The state office remains open Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm. A small 1976 sticker replaces the former metal tag and is affixed to the upper left corner of the plate.

Jury chosen to hear wiretapping trial of Houston officers

Ten women and two men were selected to hear the trial of 10 current and former Houston police officers charged with illegal wiretapping. Testimony, delayed by a sick federal attorney, was set to begin soon. Judge John Singleton said jurors would not be sequestered and would be driven to and from court daily. The defendants include former Police CID chief M. L. Joe Singleton. the other nine remain employed as officers.

Cub Scouts Kite Derby Saturday at Bonham Field

Newo Cub Scouts plan a Saturday kite derby at Bonham Little League Field with 9 AM registration. Kites will be judged on beauty originality and size before 10 AM flights and 11:30 AM awards. Dads may assist but not fly. kites must be handmade and must fly to win prizes in four age groups.
