The satellite, though off course slightly, was projected to pass about 35,000 miles from the Moon.

A bus carrying more than 80 Negro children plunged into a pond near Brookfield seven miles east of Tifton Georgia. Nine children drowned and several others rescued or revived after the vehicle capsized. driver Dave Jones said bumps on a dirt road caused loss of control as onlookers aided in pulling survivors from windows. The bus lacked sufficient seats and some children stood.
