Copeland Named New Manager at A Pennes Bonham Store

A. E. Stanford, longtime Bonham J. C. Penney manager since 1929, retires July 1 to fish. E. F. Copeland, ex Sherman assistant manager, will take over June 28 after a 1948 Missouri degree in advertising. Copeland plans to spend time in Bonham to meet staff and locals before settling in. Stanford, Bonham native and WWI veteran, began at Greenville store in 1922 and helped merge Bonham stores in 1934. He and wife will reside at 708 Chestnut, Bonham, after retirement.

Traffic lights out briefly as officers direct intersections

Cantrell Bonham experienced a brief period without traffic signals on the square Wednesday while the light control box was moved from the old fire station to the police station. Police kept corners safe and the system will be fully restored soon.

Wreck on North Center Street Involves Two Drivers

A pickup truck and a passenger car were damaged in an accident on North Center Street Wednesday night, city police report. Investigating officers City Officers T. P. Lee and Troy McNear identified the drivers as Walter D. Puckett of Bells and Walter Ferris Brock of Bonham Rt. 1.

Contracts On Three Fannin FM Projects Will Be Let in July

Bids for three farm to market road projects in Fannin County will be opened by the Texas Highway Commission in July with bids due by July 18 in Austin. The plans include FM 1281 from U S 69 southeast of Whitewright to Randolph, and FM 1553 from SH 78 northeast of Leonard to Grove Hill, plus rebuilding a current FM road.

State to Purchase Right of Way Under New Policy Change
