The city softball schedule lists two games for tonight. Southwest Pump faces Bonham Cotton Mill in a key rematch featuring hurlers Jack Hodee and Red Christian. In the final game the Mill outhit the Pimpers but lost on base running. Edhube meets Dodd City in the opener.
The Southwest Pump-Jaques power law cos of that game slate at Denison Thursday night was called off due to rain leaving the field unplayable. The game will be rescheduled for a later date.
Heavy rainfall hit Wolfe City late Thursday bringing needed moisture to corn and other crops. The downpour was heavier in this area than to the immediate north, aiding local agriculture.
Poem extols Mount Vernon tomb of the nation’s father and his consort Washington. Speaker vows to guard the heritage and freedom from those who would enslave it, portraying a national shrine as central to identity.
Miss Melodene Lockaby of Ler man spent the weekend with her parents Mr and Mrs Floyd Wock aby. Mr and Mrs Gene Pearron visited Mrs Pearson's parents Mr and Mrs J M Barker. Tuesday night Mr and Mrs lick Johnson spent Sunday with Mrs Johnson's father Darby Jennings and family. Winds of visitors include Mr Thomas of Windom with his son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs Clarence Burkhead. Weekend guests at Basil Chapman home were their son and daughter in law Mr and Mrs Bob Chapman of Marshall and Mr and Mrs Choie Chapman and children of Bonham. Mr and Mrs Clyde Pearson and baby with Vinmer Barker and Miss Pauline Barker of Gober visited Norman Flath. Weekend guests at M C Lindsey home were their son Lloyd Lindsey and family of Porney, Mr and Mrs Henry Mann Rev and Mrs W R Mann of Hoeny Grove and Mr and Mrs Willard Luttrell and son of Windom. Paul Bigham Mrs Mamie Bostattle of Bonham and Mr and Mrs B C Chapman and Jack Camp.
Bell of Dallas visited the Johnsons Tuesday night. Luther Pearson and son of McKinney spent Sunday with the Pearsons. Rev. James Cameron of Sherman will fill his regular appointment here Sunday morning and night. Everyone is urged to attend these services.
Bells special report notes continued building celivity with repairs and remodeling. The Baptist church parsonage moved to a southwest lot. A 509 foot well was dried on Dan Dugan’s farm and an electric pump to be installed. Dee Smith Sr finished a garage and sidewalks were added at E. O. Young, Grady Young, and Melvin Jerrigan homes. Concrete storm cellars completed at J. F. Flowers and Mr. and Mrs. Flowers residences.
Mrs N C Byrd notes that buildings bought from war surplus camps have been relocated onto school grounds and repurposed as a lunchroom.
A local service restores worn mattress materials into essentially new mattresses. The process reuses fine components to build a refreshed bed at a savings. Customers are invited to see how much they can save by choosing rebuilt mattresses.
