Four Suspects to Be Questioned in Burglary Series

Four suspects held in Gray son county jail at Sherman will be questioned by Fannin county officers in a linked burglary wave. County Attorney Tibby Wright said the men were arrested Friday night in Sherman Dallas and Fort Worth during joint raids. He noted the group listed a theft in Fannin county and linked cases at Trenton Randolph Savoy Ravenna, noting a shared pattern. A previously questioned suspect has faded from the case, Wright added.

Forrest W Seals Named First Fannin County Father of Year

Judges chose Forrest W Seals as Fannin County Father of the Year from about sixty nominations in The Daily Favorite contest for Father's Day. Eight year old Sherry Seals wrote the winning letter praising his duties as a church member, worker, coach, volunteer fireman, and dad, earning her a ten dollar prize and her father prizes. The selection was made without names on the letters and later reattached to reveal the writer and nominee.

Fifty Dads Nominated in First Fannin County Father of the Year

Judges praised all 47 Dads nominated in Thy Day Favorite’s inaugural Father of the Year contest as 60 letters expressing deep family affection arrived from a wide area including Hobbs New Mexico. Two Contracts Approved by Bonham City Commission

Bonham city commission approved a five year extension of Supreme Trailer’s option to lease hangars at Jones Field for the plant due to extra expenses in readying a new paint shop. The panel also signed a rental deal with Hubert Whitley and the Bonham Livestock Commission for old fair grounds buildings at $125 per month with the city covering insurance and 90 day termination notice. An amended plat of Marston Addition No. 1 was approved.

Fire damages residence on East 6th Street

A fire of undetermined origin damaged a Negro residence at 805 East 6th Street Friday afternoon. Firemen said the blaze started in the attic and caused considerable damage to the roof and structure with some interior water damage.

Day's Ride in 1888 On Horseback Recounted as Two Hours by Auto

Jim Taylor recalls riding from Bonham to Atoka Oklahoma in 1888 on horseback a full day trip. He notes recent travels from Steedman Oklahoma to Atoka took just over two hours by car using roads that echo the old 88 route.

New Paint Shop At Supreme Will Be in Use Soon

Construction on the Supreme Trailer Co. paint shop at Jones Field is complete and will be used after the July 4 vacation week. General manager Bob Franks says new equipment will be installed, the building wired this week and next, and all equipment moved from the temporary shop for use on employees’ return. The city funded the rebuild after a fire, with insurance funds used for replacement. Delta Construction Co. of Dallas handled the building, with Supreme paying any overage. The city will settle the contract and Supreme will pay $50 more per month rent until full payment. The city commission extended the company’s option on the buildings for five more years.

Rain across Bonham ranged from half to an inch and a half with lightning and strong wind. Total rainfall at Bonham was one inch by 7 am and smaller amounts later, as farmers reported varying totals from east to west in the county.

Will J. Thomas is recovering from injuries after a car slipped on a slanting mountain road and ran over his ankle.
