Ector PTA members honor faculty loyalty shown during the war years and go on record favoring increased salaries for teachers.
The Ector PTA urges higher teacher salaries to curb attrition and preserve quality education. Ora Witherspoon writes that postwar salary gaps threaten shortages, risking underqualified staff and damaged student outcomes in local schools.
Mrs Deona Meek married J Owens in a simple home ceremony at the brides parents, D W Eudy, with Reverend Vanadiver reading vows. Mrs Owens has worked at the Ladonia telephone exchange for four years. Owens, a war veteran, farms west of Ladonia.
Betty J Densmore daughter of Mrs Laura Myer of Greenville and Billy Joe Vandiver son of Mrs Betty Vandiver of Wolfe Creek were wed at the home of the officiating minister Rev Le Van de Avetstar The groom served with US occupation forces in Japan and was discharged in October They will reside in Greenville where both are employed.
Mrs Kersheil Maitler formerly Miss Loretа Doyle was named honoree at a miscellaneous shower hosted by Mr Roy Shetticia and Mrs J F Dewtherage at Dewtherage home. Miss Imogene Sheffield chaired the bride’s book. An unrelated note says electric shavers can perform up to twelve million motions per minute.
Rotary and Lions weekly gatherings at Gem and Edwards cafes. Bonham Public Library hours 2:30 to 5:30 pm Monday through Saturday. American Legion Post 283 meets 7:30 pm on 1st and 3rd Thursdays at City Hall. Tejas Delphian Club hosts Wednesday 3 pm with Mrs Henry Louree and Mrs J F Rosa as leader. Current Literature Club meets Tuesday 4 5 o'clock at 4 East 6th. Camp Fire Training School runs Wednesday and Thursday 9 11 am at First Methodist church with speakers Mrs H Buron and Choice Moore. Handcraft project demonstration by Mrs Dan Barnard.

Miss Susie Sawyers and Johnnie Caruthers wed in a Saturday ceremony at 7 PM in the officiating minister Dr. B F Milam home. Bride is the Sawyers daughter. Groom is son of Mr and Mrs J M Caruthers. he served 11 months in the Navy. The couple will reside in Demon.
In a rare moment the Pate Coluge football squad entered training with hopes of ending a 48 year drought. Coach leadership and player drills set a determined tone as history beckons.
