Commander Nobile said the glare from the air search hindered locating Larsen and Luetzow Holm. He and his crew waved but the Norge aviators did not see them, and the plane returned to base unaware of the near sighting.
Semi official reports list 68 dead from the boiler explosion aboard the Columbian gun boat Hercules in the Magdalena River. The vessel was cruising when the accident occurred. Twenty two crewmen were saved and several bodies recovered.

Madison June 18 Lindbergh was awarded an honorary law degree at the University of Wisconsin. President Glenn Frank conferred the degree recalling his departure from the school six years ago. He was likened to Benjamin Franklin for serving the country by winning friends for it.
June 18 report from Southampton states Captain H. H. Bailey, agent for Miss Amelia Earhart, announced the monoplane Friendship landed at Barry Inlet, Wales at 12:45 p m under perfect control. The crew were taken ashore by motorboat and the plane moored. continued to Southampton likely.
An official report says Captain Larsen and Lieutenant Luet will start separate routes to locate the three men missing since Sundays voyage. Larsen sighted a camp remains at Aberg Bay as conditions allow continued search.
A report states Allen underwent a tonsillectomy at Memorial Hospital and is recovering well. The condition was described as improving with no complications mentioned as of noon.
United Press reports in San Juan that President Barcelo of the Porto Rico senate was wounded during a city council meeting when an attacker armed with a dagger stabbed him. The assailant was arrested after police beat him.
United Press reports in Amarillo that Red Eason, on trial in district court, slipped from the hall while jurors were being gathered. A drunk was placed in the city jail to sober up, and officers later identified him as Eason. He was turned over to county officers.
Dallas June 18 The Green Belt Golf Association in Texas is expanding rapidly as its annual tournament gains prestige. Organized three years ago with four to five members the group now numbers 11 clubs with Memphis and Quanah boasting strong courses. The Memphis layout sits ten blocks from the courthouse and clubs report growing junior participation.
Miss Dorothy Greathouse concert singer and chosen queen of New Mexico arrives in Fort Worth to represent the state at the West Texas Chamber of Commerce convention. She will perform in tonight's pageant and at various events. She is granddaughter of Silas Greathouse, once Lincoln's law partner and Illinois attorney general, and hails from a Clovis area ranch family.
June 18 report from Fort Worth states Dr. I H Martin notified police his automobile was stolen. Officers later arrested him for reporting theft, discovering the car in his garage with a new paint job paid for by his office staff. It was a case of mistaken theft.
Frederick Oklahoma report details six dead after weekend storm. Eight year old Lewis McDonald died in hospital while grandfather S A Wheeler perished Friday when a car plunged into the Red River after a bridge washout.
More than 100 cowboys and cowgirls enter a June event in Houston running June 26 to 30. Slim Nowata of Nowata Oklahoma figures among notable entrants, a former peace officer famed for a Philadelphia Centennial wound and winning the Ke Maynard trophy.
On June 18 in Topeka Charles Curtis sails for Washington to complete senatorial duties and discuss campaign plans with Herbert Hoover. He travels with Mrs Edward Gann, his daughter, and Mrs Knight.
Dr. F. Scott McBride, head of the Anti Saloon League, says the league will back Hoover in the 1928 race if Smith fails to secure the Democratic nomination. He argues the Republican prohibition plank meets prohibitionist goals and that Hoover would be recognized as a dry candidate.
