Meade is named president of the Bonhi John Ex-Students Association for the upcoming reunion. Meade succeeds previous leadership as alumni prepare plans and invites for former students to reconnect at the event.
Sides of Seminole, grandson of Phillip Sides who helped build the county courthouse, returns to Bonham on vacation to locate old residents and reconnect with family. He recalls early Bonham with a blacksmith shop and store and notes changes since he left, wishing to see old friends Jess and Don Moore.

Detroit June 4 Union Leader Walter Reuther accepts Ford Motor Co's 55 million dollar job security plan if arbitration over using the fund to guarantee annual or semi annual wages is agreed. The fund would grow 5 6 and 7 cents per hour over three years. Disagreement remains on duration of wage protection and calls for later arbitration.
The fund to buy land for a Bonham guard armory grew to 1 566 75 with late donations, $100 from Speaker Sam Rayburn leading in a list including Texas Telephone Co and local firms. The State Armory Board awaits final land purchase before awarding an $80 000 contract.
Robert Denton Reece, 15, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clovis Reece, will receive the God and Country award in a special First Baptist church service. Under Rev. James W. Hatley, Reece completed the required work becoming the Bois d Arc district’s second recipient, following Gary Long.

In 1953, during summer camp at Glover, he was invited to join the Order of the Arrow, honoring Scout and Scouter service. The God and Country Award recognizes spiritual achievement in church service.

County Attorney Tibby Wright announced sixty witnesses have been subpoenaed for the Sixth District Court grand jury session beginning Monday at 10 a.m. The panel includes four women the first time since women became eligible for jury service. Names listed include Mrs Charlie Mc Cleary, Mrs Lucile Reed, Mrs John W. Smith, and Mrs Sid Anderson, plus several men from Bonham Honey Grove Trenton and other towns. The panel may allow a two day term with forgery burglary and theft among the cases to be considered.
Bonham Lions club members will act as door to door salesmen during a mop and broom sale week. Members meet Monday at 9 30 in the county jail basement to label pack and prepare brooms mops ironing board pads and covers and rubber door mats for distribution. Proceeds fund glasses for needy children and repair playground equipment in city parks. All items are locally made says John Glenn the club president.
Floyd and Lloyd Cunningham twin graduates of Honey Grove high school completed studies at Paris Junior College. The pair attended the commencement on Wednesday night June 11 and plan to enter East Texas State College in Commerce in September after spending the summer with their parents at 919 Pine Street Bonham.
John E Meade elected president of the Benham Ex-Students Association for five years. Other officers include Bradford Nunnelee Ray Peeler Jr Mrs Virginia Stocks John Bacon Saunders and Mrs Helen Buron. The event followed remarks by Carruth.
