Franks Denied New Trial in Jersey City Case
In Washington on June 5 the Supreme Court ruled Mayor Frank Hagues’s Jersey City administration violated constitutional rights including freedom of assembly speech and press. In Waxahachie Texas Burton Franks, a Bonham youth found guilty of murdering Willis D Wileman of Maypearl, was denied a new trial by Judge A R Etout. Defense attorneys announced intent to appeal to the Court of Criminal Appeals, filing a motion with 25 allegations of error including jury misconduct.

Austin June 5 The Texas House refused to set a final adjournment date for its lengthy session stalled over taxes for social security. Rainfall Totals Rise in Bonham Area After Weekend Storm
Rainfall totals reached 4.14 inches since Saturday morning in Bonham, via Dale Wolford of Community Natural Gas Co. from 24 inches from Saturday to Sunday and 3.90 inches from Sunday to Monday. Rain was widespread countywide, heavier in Bonham and northwest areas. Boisdare Creek ran full but within banks east of town, Sloan Creek three miles east near capacity. Crops and fields suffered wash damage, with drains both in the road and fields harmed by the downpour.
