Brookston Man Drowns in Deep Bois d Arc Creek Hole
Charles John Johnson, 51, of Brookston drowned during a fishing trip in a deep hole on Bois d Arc Creek northeast of Bonham early Sunday. J. W. Frazier and C. Fraser were with him. the men left Johnson in a pickup and upon returning heard a splash. His body was recovered between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m. from about 12 feet of water after Bonham rescue units and deputies investigated. The drowning occurred on property owned by Dr. Joe Stephens. Justice of the Peace R. F. Mankin returned a death verdict.
