Farmers will tour two Fannin County sorghum farms Friday morning starting at 8 a.m. at the Bob Hodge farm near Ravenna. The tour, led by County Agent Wayne Cranfill, will visit the C. W. Johnston farm in Nunnelee to compare six sorghum varieties. The Hodge field is irrigated while Johnston’s is not.
The first Air Force tactical fighter wing fully equipped with the controversial Flt will be activated at Nellis Air Force Base Nevada this summer.
Tass, the Soviet news agency, warned that continued Israeli aggression against Arab states risks a large scale resumption of the Middle East war and threatens international security. All Fannin county community improvement clubs will be honored Friday night at the annual club picnic in the north pavilion at Bonham State Park. Two clubs Guber ang Ra venna will receive cash awards for high finishes in the State contest and all clubs will receive certificates for participation. The picnic begins at 7 30 p.m. Families should bring picnic baskets. cold drinks bread and paper plates and silverware will be provided.
City police said two high school pickup trucks were borrowed and driven around the odd night. The trucks bumped each other, were damaged, and then returned to the school lot. Chief Thurman Renfro stated the two boys admitted taking the trucks and will be handled in juvenile court.
Mexican agents arrested 13 communists accused of subversion to overthrow the republic and establish a socialist regime. Authorities said the mastermind, a former Mexican Communist leader, escaped to Peking but confessed role in the plot. group planned guerrilla activity.
