Scouts Earn Ranks and Merit Badges at Local Court of Honor
Sixteen scouts from two Bonham troops advanced in rank and 125 merit badges were awarded at the First Presbyterian church. Randy Crittenden became Life Scout. Bob Finley, Mike Kincaid, and Jim Tosch reached Star. Ronnie Bowman, Jerry Harris, Rusty McKissack, and Mike Tadlock earned First Class. Second Class recipients included Milan Bowman, Brooks Griffin, Bill Miller, Andy Keeton, Bush Bowden, Craig Eaton, Richard Taylor, and Stephen Untersee. Scouts from Troop 52 and Troop 260 earned badges, with many completing requirements at Camp Glover in Oklahoma.

Open House Draws 3000 at Bonham State Bank
Bonham State Bank's new facilities drew about 3000 visitors during a Sunday open house from 2 to 6 pm. Speaker Sam Rayburn attended along with many bank officials from Dallas, Paris, Denison, Sherman, and other cities, who registered and entered door prize drawings for three Savings Bonds.

Rainbow spans Bonham sky as morning showers drift west
A brilliant rainbow appeared in the western sky around 5 45 this morning with showers to the west, the second rainbow seen in two weeks. The arc extended about a quarter of the sky and showed best in rural and outer Bonham areas, while downtown viewers were blocked by buildings.

Bonham area forecasts call for widely scattered afternoon and evening thundershowers through Tuesday with a slight rise in temperatures.
