A young Fannin county Scout Richard Reimer First Class Scout received the Medal of Merit for saving his father Wilbert Reimer from a farm accident on the Reimer farm in Ivanhoe on November 2, 1974. He acted quickly to stop bleeding and summon help. The boy is the first in the Newo district to receive the award.
Receiving awards were Mike Butler, Larry Caston, Toby Bingham and Tim Kidwell for their achievements.
The Dallas Grand Jury indicted five men in a Dallas, Garland and Irving theft ring involving boats, motors and trailers worth 11 305 dollars, four motorcycles 2 811 dollars and one car 7 167 dollars. Indictments cite July through December 1974 thefts with property traced to Denison Bonham and Cartwright Oklahoma.
