A northbound passenger train struck a car carrying a father and his four children at a grade crossing near Main Street in a small Fannin County farming town. All five occupants were instantly killed Saturday night.

On Dec 8 1958 near Trenton James Thomas Chesher 3 and his four children Judy Carolyn 10 Thomas Darrell 8 Connie Diane and Patricia Anne 3 were en route to visit grandparents when a train struck their car broadside. The vehicle was dragged 128 feet and obliterated leaving mangled remains along the tracks. The mother remained at home in Grand Prairie.

Police Capture Suspected Hooded Rapist in Miami

In Northwest Miami a man described as a hooded rapist who attacked three women in seven weeks was wounded and captured by a 40-man police posse. President Eisenhower said Congress seems to back his goal of a balanced budget as it cycled the permanent debt ceiling to about 288 billion dollars. Bond and tax vote set for July 25 in consolidated district

A bond assumption and tax equalization election is scheduled for Saturday July 25 in the Bonham Edhube consolidated district. Polls open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Bonham fire station. The district will assume outstanding debt and maintain the current tax rate of 110 dollars for maintenance and 50 cents for debt service. All residents of the new district may vote.

Murder Discounted In Death of Boy

OKLAHOMA CITY UPI reports police discounted murder in the death of 7 year old Jerome Anthony Brown whose charred body was found in a self service dryer. Homicide inspector Meals noted the boy may have climbed into the drum while the machine was idle, but the mother Dorothy Gale Brown claimed a cruel prank by other children and that the boy was mentally retarded and feared heat. Autopsy ordered to determine if he was alive when entering the dryer and to confirm timing in the drum.
