About 500 members and friends of the Fannin County Rural Electric Co-Operative will attend the annual membership meeting at the American Theatre Monday at 2 PM. Directors from Districts 3 and 7 will be elected, with Ray Renfro and B R Smoot current directors. candidates include Richard Knight and W A Childress. Grover Hall will preside and give the president’s report while Sam Morgan outlines last year’s work and future plans. Prizes will be awarded to attendees, and after adjournment the board meets at REA headquarters on Chestnut Street to elect officers.

U S Aids Build Formosa Highway Linking Coasts
The United States agreed to assist Nationalist China in constructing a Formosa east west highway costing about 25 million dollars. The route will cut through the peaks of the mountain range separating the coasts and will provide employment and housing for thousands of retired Nationalist soldiers in new villages along the route. Construction starts July 7 and is expected to take about two and a half years.
