Windom Family Forces Fire Evacuates Home

Windom Texas family of Lendell Ford escaped serious harm when a Wednesday 2:30 AM blaze destroyed their story and a half residence. Ford woke to the roar and saved his wife and daughter Dina Gail in time before the structure fell. Bonham and Honey Grove departments responded, but the home was a total loss. Ford has suffered three prior fires including a 1956 tractor and corn picker blaze and a hay barn fire last summer.

Store in Bugtussle Up for Rent in Ladonia Area

E M Lackey of Ladonia offers the Bugtussle business section for rent. The deal includes a dwelling, business house and shop building in the small community between Honey Grove and Ladonia. The store once ran under J B Fink who has retired, with fire damage repaired after last summer’s close call.

Weather Roughs Up Fence Posts and Holes

Chief Moore reports three foot deep fence post holes were dug then later filled with water as a rainstorm soaked the ground. He recalls muddy holes with no water on digging, but water seeped in several inches once posts began. He notes no one else was present to blame.

FPC Approves Gas Facilities for Texas Eastern Wilcox Trend

The Federal Power Commission authorized Texas Eastern Transmission Corp. and its Wilcox Trend Gathering System to develop about four million dollars in natural gas facilities in 1983. Texas Eastern may build three million dollars of facilities while Wilcox Trend may invest one million dollars in a series of projects.

Shortage Reported in Harris County Clerk Office

Houston. A growing fund shortage in Harris County clerk's office was reported by County Auditor S. B. Bruce at 29,400 dollars. The shortage dates to 1953 with investigations started last November. The latest figure comes from audits of Houston title companies on their payments to the clerk for recording legal documents.
