In Texas at Austin a district judge sentenced Lorado Cole, a former mayoral candidate who finished sixth in 1971 with 508 votes, to 60 years for aggravated rape. The 21 year old UT student testified Cole threatened her with a knife and a gun during the Aug 2, 1975, attack. jurors deliberated under an hour. Cole had a 1970 conviction for attempted arson tied to an antiwar protest at UT.

Explosion sinks tug and sparks missing eight crewmen
