King Chandler, 70, died Monday morning in Honey Grove after a heart attack in the downtown business district. He was a carpenter and paper hanger. Survived by his widow, a daughter Mrs. Eddie Aubrey of Oklahoma City, one brother Willis Chandler, and two sisters Mrs. Lizzie Rogers and Mrs. Vick Dobbs, all of Honey Grove. Funeral arrangements pending arrival of relatives.
Local social notes list numerous Honey Grove and area residents visiting kin in Kilgore Paris Dallas Fort Worth and Oklahoma City with engagements and travel. A separate Omaha UP blizzard baby story notes a Hereford steer sold at 1428 pounds dressed after a winter that fed hay to stranded livestock.
The annual Junior-Senior Banquet was held Saturday evening in the high school lunchroom in Honey Grove. Tables were decorated with white carnations. Supt. R. A. Barker gave the invocation and Jimmy Stewart extended the welcome. George Floyd delivered the response. Jeff Holland served as master of ceremonies and introduced several musical numbers with Peggy Jo Cornelius as accompanist.
The Gober Home Demonstration Club met Friday and elected Mrs. Wilbur Smith president for the coming year. Other officers are Henry Hensley council delegate and Mrs. O W Woodson recreation leaders. A committee was appointed to select new draperies for the club room. The next meeting is May 10.
Rev and Mrs Rex Ray returning missionaries from China presented colored movies at the Fifth Monday Fellowship of Bonham churches at the First Baptist Church. The film covered China scenes rice fields hospitals schools and churches and the return voyage by boat. Mrs Ray gave intro remarks followed by a social hour in the church parlor with tulled lace table setting and crystal punch service.
In 1989 there were 129,999 Ree sepoints who took training tuy afloat or ashore with the Navy.
